Berkery’s work is hugely influenced by his Japanese heritage, often drawing from family photographs, and focuses primarily on the human figure. His painting style harmoniously blends highly detailed realistic forms with abstracted compositions and unnatural and vibrant colours.

Berkery’s most recent work is seen in his current exhibition at The Molesworth Gallery entitled ‘Cave Paintings’, a title derived from a comment a friend made about the archaic nature of Berkery’s practice of painting in the digital age. The show is running from 22 June – 17 July 2020.
